TASK FORCE DUSTOFF (C & D/2-238th Aviation)
Companies C and D of the 2nd General Support Aviation Battalion, 238th Aviation Regiment are assigned within the Indiana Army National Guard at Shelbyville, Indiana. In the early spring of 2006, the MEDEVAC Company (C/2-238th) received a mobilization alert of a pending deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). On 04 May 2007, Company C (MEDEVAC) and Company D (Maintenance) 2-238th Aviation were mobilized into federal service. The combined MEDEVAC and Maintenance Companies would become known as TASK FORCE (TF) DUSTOFF for the upcoming mobilization training and deployment. On 07 May 2007, TF DUSTOFF arrived at Fort Sill, Oklahoma for three months of mobilization training. On 04 August 2007, TF DUSTOFF arrived at Camp Udari, Kuwait for two weeks of environmental training. On 18 August 2007, TF DUSTOFF arrived at Ali Airbase, Iraq and became attached to the 2nd General Support Aviation Battalion, 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division. TF DUSTOFF conducted MEDEVAC operations throughout the South-central area of Iraq, specifically assigned to MND-SE and MND-CS. On 17 April 2008, TF DUSTOFF was relieved-in-place by Company C, 2-126th Aviation. TF DUSTOFF began redeployment operations and withdrew to Camp Virginia, Kuwait. On 22 April 2008, TF DUSTOFF arrived at Fort Hood, Texas for one week of demobilization. On 29 April 2008, TF DUSTOFF arrived at home station and was released from active duty. Mission accomplished.
